CCS/CCSA Trainee Review Program

Trainee Review Programs (TRPs) 2011 - a resounding success!

Through the work of the CCS Trainee Committee, CCS trainees identified the RCPSC examination preparation as a critical milestone in the transition from “school to work”. Hence the CCS/CCSA Trainee Review Programs were established. The TRPs provide trainees with realistic exposure to the examination process and offer an opportunity for feedback from faculty. It places their knowledge and exam writing skills to the test and provides them with an overview of all aspects of the exam. In addition, they have the opportunity to network with program faculty and fellow trainees from across Canada. Click on the links below to view TRP activities from 2011.

The sixth offering of the Adult Cardiology Trainee Review Program was held April 29 – May 1, 2011, in Toronto. There were 49 out of 57  third-year trainees in attendance. The program remains  an extremely valuable opportunity for third-year Adult Cardiology residents to prepare for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – Examination in cardiology.

2011 PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY TRAINEE REVIEW PROGRAM

PCTRPThe fifth offering of the Pediatric Cardiology Trainee Review Program was held May 27-29, 2011 at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. This year, there were 8 attendees representing programs from across Canada. The Trainees’ feedback was very positive.  Trainees regard this course as "extremely invaluable" and the words "excellent, very useful, great" are repeated throughout the evaluations. Through the weekend, the residents expressed the value of this program, and were very appreciative of the faculty and the CCS and CCSA's commitment to it. The TRP meets the needs of the trainees. Probably the most long standing benefit of the TRP is that it brings together the future pediatric cardiologists in Canada. It establishes the contacts and hopefully fosters friendships that will build a stronger national pediatric cardiology organization, supporting the CCS, in the future.
